  • UI Design / Wireframing
  • Usability Testing

Sales team members and partners of a major hardware enterprise were spending too much time pouring over multiple sources of critical information to facilitate the creation of accurate quotes. A decision was made to migrate one of their largest and most commonly-referenced catalog systems to the corporation’s brand site.

I was brought onto the project to lead the user experience. My primary goals were to design a framework to receive the dynamically-fed content, tie it into the site’s existing navigation and make recommendations on making it searchable. Because the price books were updated by multiple authors on a weekly basis, the migration needed to occur as quickly as possible. While this meant that the content would be cleaned up during a later phase, I was asked to investigate ways to reorganize sections for consistency.

Some time was spent reviewing product content both within the price books and on the brand site. Interviews were conducted with members of the sales team to learn more about the quote generation process and any specific pain points. With this information in mind, I designed a solution that could be nested within the site’s product page template and utilize its existing interaction elements. A separate search page was created, and access was made available to specific users groups at key points throughout the site.

In addition to their involvement during the design process, members of the sales team participated in several rounds of user-testing, which greatly contributed to the speed and success of the migration.
